This was Scugbe System Center Night Fall edition

October 23, 2015 at 9:17 am in Uncategorized by Dieter Wijckmans

Yesterday we had the perfect setting for our System Center night fall edition: light rain, chilly winds,… The perfect setting to just get indoors with a lot of System center peers and attend 2 top notch sessions about System center related topics.

Well this is not my perfect evening setting but still it is getting close. We were very delighted we had a full house and would like to thank all the attendees for taking the time to come over and participate.  We at scugbe enjoyed the fact that there was a lot of interaction in the audience and that so many of you joined our drink afterwards at the uiver in Zaventem. They just didn’t knew what hit them when we landed with 25 in the pub…

Thanks at Microsoft Belux as well to sponsor the venue and catering. Support which is much appreciated!

Make sure to bookmark: http://scug.be/events and follow us on twitter @scugbe to stay current on the future events!

Some photos to convince you to come back next time or free up the time to join your first user group meeting of Scugbe:

Scugbe: Sysctr night Fall edition 22/10/2015: Meet the speakers

October 14, 2015 at 8:55 pm in events by Dieter Wijckmans

A Scugbe System Center evening is cool for talking to your peers and fellow System Center experts… But it’s nothing without good sessions provided by top notch speakers. They commit to give you sessions straight from the field backed up by their knowledge they gained during their work with System Center. The 22nd of October we managed to get again 3 speakers who will share their knowledge with you and of course be available afterwards to answer questions…

Meet your hosts for this evening!

a1dc88c3d12900b548d489576abf1486_400x400 Jan Van Meirvenne has been passionate with IT ever since he saw the Jurassic Park movie on TV. 17 years (2010) later he decided to rectify the biggest mistake in the movie: not using decent management software. Diving head first into the System Center stack ever since his internship he quickly gained a valuable amount of knowledge, becoming an expert on Operations Manager and Orchestrator, while also not being shy of toying with Service Manager and Configuration Manager if the opportunity arises. Being a hobbyist-developer he loves to extend and improve on the standard platforms and offer a deep level of customization possibilities to his customers. Using this versatile and broad knowledge, Jan aims to deliver the right solution for the problem or need at hand with a high quality standard.
TDK_Headshot Tim is a freelance consultant with over 10 years of experience in the field, mainly in Wintel environments. He has a broad technical knowledge on various enterprise products and Operating Systems, and a strong focus on systems management products. His main area of expertise is designing and implementing systems management tools and processes.

Tim is an ECM MVP since 2014.

With a clear focus on Systems Management Tim’s focus from a product perspective is mainly on System Center Configuration Manager. Additionally he has proven experience implementing and configuring System Center Operations Manager. As a passionate technologist he also has a broad interest in the other products part of the System Center stack.

DWI_Headshot Dieter is in his mid-30s and is a big fan of technology. He recently received an MVP award for System Center Cloud and Data management.
He’s been active in the IT industry for over 10 years, 12 of which as a freelance consultant.Dieter works at Coretech Benelux as managing Consultant.
As an ITIL certified professional he mainly helps companies streamline their processes and use the right tools to support these processes.
He’s an experienced helpdesk migrator and helpdesk team leader and therefore knows which challenges big companies are confronted with when they adapt their processes to support their activities and more efficiently organize the work of their support staff.
His main focus is on System Center Operations Manager and System Center Service Manager, but he’s also well acquainted with the other products of the System Center suite and other technologies.
He’s an active member in his local Sysctr community and a board member of System Center User Group Belgium.
He’s always trying to find the right balance between manageability and practical relevance.
His motto illustrates his way of working: Don’t overthink it… It’s doing common things uncommonly well that brings success.

exclamation-point Please be aware that this is a free and 100% community driven event. A lot of effort and spare time from a lot of people is put into it.

Most of our UG events sell out, but unfortunately there are always “no-shows”. Each one of these no-shows is a waste of effort and budget from our UG.
Therefore: If you do register and cannot come for whatever reason, please cancel your ticket on time and leave the opportunity for someone else.
Event registrations are closely monitored so we can manage our time, effort and budgets in a most optimized manner.

System Center Night 23/04: Spring 2015 edition: The sessions

April 14, 2015 at 8:53 pm in events by Dieter Wijckmans

During feedback of our previous System Center night events we heard a lot of feedback concerning various topics. First of all we LOVE feedback.

893837-spring-photos-hd

It gives us the opportunity to even further tailor our evenings for your liking.

The 2 sessions for the System Center Night on 23th of April actually came out of this feedback:

“We need more sessions with notes from the field so we can instantly use it in our day to day work”

The 2 sessions on this evening will do just that. They will be packed with tips and tricks you can instantly use in your day to day work to even further explore the vast power of system center in your environment and experience new features you would not have noticed before.

This is the list of sessions for the System Center night 23/04:

Track: ECM

Speaker: Kim Oppalfens

Title: Configmgr Software updates – inside out

Abstract: Learn about the ins and outs of software updates from a seasoned ConfigMgr consultant. Software updates in Configuration Manager is based on WSUS and Configuration Items in Configuration Manager 2012. CI’s and state message based deployments can be somewhat challenging to get right and troubleshoot. Come and explore the inner workings of software updates with us during this evening session.

Track: CDM

Speaker: Dieter Wijckmans

Title: Monitorinception: Monitor your monitoring environment

Abstract: A monitoring environment is always judged by its ability to tell you when something is wrong. Preferably even when something is about to go wrong. We all know how many work you need to put in your monitoring environment to carefully monitor everything. Would be a shame to see it all go down the drain when disaster strikes at your company and SCOM was unable to alert due to itself being impacted due to bad maintenance. Check out this session to find out tips and tricks from the field to monitor your monitoring environment.
